ABOUT BRUNO ÁZERA

Hi there! My name is Bruno Ázera and I’m a landscape photographer from Terceira Island and I love to create photos and videos of the Azores. I specialise in creating Photo Tours and Workshops and also content for businesses that are connected to nature and the outdoors.

Music and art were always a part of my life, I picked up an electric bass when I was a teenager, following in the footsteps of my father. The thrill of playing live with my band was amazing, but later I discovered that my real passion came from capturing moments in the outdoors when hiking, and no better place for this like the Azores.

The present green and rugged landscape in our daily lives, the dark blue colors from the ocean, and the bright yellows from the best light of the day, are a reflection of my photography.

My work has been published in some of the biggest media channels including National Geographic and TV commercials.

If you want to work with me or have any questions regarding photo tours, workshops, digital products, prints, licenses, please fill out the contact form below or send me an email. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Name

My first camera back in 2005 was a Nikon D70, a digital camera with only 6 mpx with a kit lens. From a very early age I realized that my interest went beyond photography, I started to invest in cameras that would provide me with new experiences and quality in video capture.

I spent around 13 years using Canon and equipment before I switched to Fujifilm series cameras back in 2017. Technology has reached a point where it’s possible to carry an array of different tools for photography and filmmaking, like the DJI Mavic 3 Pro, without compromising my philosophy to travel as light as possible.

Since 2021, I use Sony digital cameras, a Sony A7R IV, the perfect balance between image quality and size, but like many other cameras they have flaws. My biggest complain is the quality of the display (or the lack of) and for not rotating vertically. I do a lot of vertical landscapes close to the ground and its really hard to compose. A also own the SONY ZV-E1 for video work. The quality of the files that come out of this small camera is insane!

Exploring these landscapes demands a backpack that can withstand the elements while providing secure storage for my gear. The f-stop Ajna DuraDiamond 37L backpack is my trusted companion on every adventure, offering ample space for cameras, lenses, drones, and accessories. Its durable construction and customizable compartments ensure that my equipment remains protected and easily accessible, no matter where my photographic pursuits take me.

I never liked filters, the less gear I use the better. But last year I got my hands on the Maven Magnetic Filters and immediately shifted my way of thinking. Magnetic filters are really the way forwarded.

The tripods of choice are Gitzo tripods, a bit on the expensive side, but you only need to buy once. I currently use two, and both of them are almost 20 years old.

.Post-processing is done using Adobe Lightroom Classic, Photoshop CC and Luminar NEO. For video editing I really enjoy Davinci Resolve Studio.
